From this
meeting the Club was formed, and to this day, the rationalisation of these rules
still is one of the Club's
primary objectives.
Significant advances have been made over the years, such as;
Legalisation and registration of Choppers and Custom
Motorcycles in 1978.
The first three legalised Choppers in
WA. belonging to
Club Members.
Legalisation and registration of Trikes in 1983.
Legalisation and registration of Bike Trailers in 1990.
As the Club's
name implies, membership is not restricted to owners of any particular make or
type of motorcycle, but several members do share a common interest in customised
motorcycles. Other Club objectives are to promote friendship among
motorcyclists, and to encourage public acceptance of motorcycling as a
recreational activity and a practical mode of transport.
The Club also organises the Annual Perth Bikers'
Charity Ride, which is held on the first Saturday of December. The Ride has been
running since December 1975, and 'ALL'
Motorcyclists are invited to participate in this event, held in aid of the
Salvation Army's
Christmas Appeal. The only entry requirement for the Charity Ride, being a
donation for the Salvo's.
Donations to date, have exceeded $1 million.
Regular runs and social events are conducted for Members, and
a Club meeting is held on the first Monday of every month at 8 p.m., at the
Belmont Sports & Recreation Club, corner of Keane and Abernathy Roads in Belmont.
